Thelma Atwood, 100, of Little Rock, passed away August 4, 2012. She was born August 28, 1911 in Hickory Plains, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Herbert Lemuel Colclasure and Sarah Lillian Lackie-Colclasure.
Thelma was a retired Assembly Inspector for Timex. She was a member of Ivy Chapel Christian Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, quilting, and doing needlework. Her secret to a long life was staying busy, sewing, cooking, going to ball games and staying in touch with family and friends. However, she said her main secret was "behaving herself, going to church and trying to outrun the devil!"
She is preceded in death by her husband Milburn L. Atwood, daughter Melba Wilson and great-great-granddaughter Tinlee Dreher.
Survivors include her daughter Patsy and husband James Dreher, daughter Eva and husband Melvin Golden, sons Wesley and wife Johnnie Atwood, Garry and wife Jo Atwood and Paul and wife Diane Atwood, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Ivy Chapel Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Huson Funeral Home in Little Rock.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ivy Chapel Christian Church at 706 Ivy Chapel Rd., Little Rock, Arkansas 72206.
