Theresa Kay Summers, 54, of Benton, Arkansas passed away July 19, 2017. She was born August 23, 1962 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to the late John and Mary Pledger Summers.
Theresa was an honor graduate of Springdale High School in 1980. She received a Bachelor degree from UAMS Medical School as an honor student with a 3.98 GPA. Theresa was a registered nurse and started working in the medical field at the age of 16 as a Certified Nursing Assistant at City Hospital in Fayetteville. She also worked at Springdale Memorial Hospital, Baptist Medical Center Little Rock, St. Vincent's, and Allegiance Long Term Acute Care. Theresa's true nature was being a giver, not a taker. She was a person who gave love and attention, and was always doing things for others. This nature carried over in her care as a nurse for her patients. She did everything possible to make sure her patients were being taken care of. One of her greatest joys was caring for her pet Boxer, April. She taught this smart puppy how to talk, including saying "Mama" and "I love you."
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John and Mary Summers.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Debbie Rodgers and husband Larry of West Fork, Arkansas and Jonna Summers of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one niece; three nephews; two great nieces; special family friends, Dr. David Brewer and Lois Smith; her loving church family, Benton Four Square Church; furry companion, April; and a host of friends who love her and will miss her always.
Memorial service, officiated by Dr. David Brewer, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 29, at Benton Four Square Church, 2722 Military Road, Benton, Arkansas. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 5 at Mineral Springs Mountain Cemetery in West Fork, Arkansas.
