Thomas Blake Barksdale, age 68, of Amity, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 9, 2013. He was born July 21, 1945 in Arkadelphia, the son of Malvin Mynor "Pete" and Lois Kirksey Barksdale. He was a member of Amity United Methodist Church and a graduate of Henderson State University.
Tommy was involved in the family business, Barksdale Lumber Co. in Amity for many years. After retirement, he was involved in farming and cattle. He loved and taught dancing, enjoyed collecting wine and was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one son, Thomas Blake Barksdale Jr.
Survivors are his mother, Lois Barksdale of Amity; one sister, Kay Barksdale (Mike) Romine of Seattle, Washington; his children, Cathy Barksdale Hill of Caddo Valley, Johnny Barksdale of Amity, Mickey (Kinley) Barksdale of Bryant, Tessa Barksdale of Hot Springs; two step-daughters, Corrie Sink of Iowa and Carrie Bradley of Texas; six grandchildren, Bryan Lyons and Brea Lyons both of Amity, Jordan Barksdale and Jackson Barksdale both of Bryant, Ben Barksdale and Brooke Barksdale both of Amity. He is also survived by Sarah Ellis of Caddo Valley to whom he was married for twenty years and Connie Sandifer of Hot Springs to whom he was married for four years.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, September 13th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. Glen Harris officiating. Interment will be in Jones Cemetery at Amity. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Bean, Curt Hayes Jim Stanton, Gary Doster, Charles Spears, Ron Galloway, Dale Richardson and Willie Ringer. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Buck, Bill Wilson, Roy Rogers, Jerry Don Smith and Darwin Hendrix.
