Thomas Edwin Landfair, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday February 29, 2024.
Tommy was born on June 16, 1934 in Tillar, Arkansas, and attended Tillar High School graduating in 1952. After high school he attended Henderson State Teachers College and graduated in 1957. He then enlisted in the Army where he served his country and married his college sweetheart and love of his life, Barbara Laing Landfair.
Tommy is preceded in death by his loving parents, Hutchins and Sadie Landfair, his three older brothers, James Landfair (Billie), Robert Landfair (Carol), Gerald Landfair, his sister-in-law Sybil Laing and nephew Todd Laing. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Laing Landfair, children Mark Landfair, Carolyn Harrison (Matt), his brother-in-law Nelson Laing, Jr and sister-in-law Wilene Landfair. He is blessed with four grandchildren Kelsey Osborne (Micah), Hutch Landfair (Lauren), Hunter Harrison (Allison), Megan Harrison and four great grandchildren Abigail, Judah, Levi and Rebekah Osborne. He also has several wonderful nieces and nephews Barbara Powell, Cherry Goldsholl, Jeri Chambers, Stacy Pomeroy, Greg Laing and Laurie Laing.
Tommy was a Christian servant leader, a beloved husband, and a dedicated father whose life brought many blessings to his family which will continue for many generations. Tommy and Barbara met at Henderson State Teachers College and enjoyed 67 wonderful years of marriage. They had a relationship built on mutual respect, trust, and deep affection. Together, they weathered life’s challenges and celebrated its joys, always putting family first.
After serving his country in the Army, Tommy started his career working for Mobil Oil while serving in the Army Reserve. In his spare time, he assisted his father-in-law installing appliances for Laing Sales & Service. After two years at Mobil, he joined Laing’s Sales and Service. Tommy worked there for 52 years with Nelson and Buddy Laing until he retired. The friendships formed with clients and extended family over those years of service are priceless.
Tommy had an insatiable love for the outdoors. You could find him on any given day working in the yard, tinkering in his shop, and watching his children and neighborhood friends create memories around him. He also loved to travel. He and Barbara were blessed to have the opportunity to travel the world because of the numerous awards received from Laing Sales and Service. In addition, his most treasured time was spent on the Gulf Coast with his family and grandkids, eating fresh seafood and riding the waves. Tommy was also a devoted fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks.
A humble man with a heart full of generosity, Tommy walked through life with a quiet dignity, always putting others before himself. His generosity knew no bounds, not only in material things but in his time, energy and most importantly, love. His smile would melt your heart.
A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Methodist Church on Wednesday March 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank the amazing ladies at Hospice Home Care on Bowman Road in Little Rock, Arkansas, who took special care of Tommy during his last days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tommy’s honor to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1101 N Mississippi St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72207.
