Thomas E. Moody, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed on October 24, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on September 10, 1937, to the late William Roy and Gracie Viola (Bradford) Moody. Thomas lived a life characterized by love, commitment, and a passion for family, which were the foundation of his existence. For many years, Thomas displayed remarkable skills as a master bricklayer, a trade that he not only excelled in but also cherished passing on to his children and grandson. His craftsmanship was known and admired by many, and he took great pride in sharing his knowledge with friends, teaching them the secrets of his trade. The legacy of his work and the lessons he imparted will surely carry on through those he taught, as well as those he worked alongside.
A proud member of the United States Navy, Thomas served honorably for four years, and the experiences he gathered during that time greatly shaped his character. Known for his stubbornness and a humorous outlook on life, he approached each day with an unwavering determination, embodying a spirit that was often infectious to those around him.
Thomas had a zest for life that brought him much joy, particularly in the company of his beloved wife, Monelle, and in their shared adventures at Tunica playing slot machines—a hobby that held a special place in his heart. His luck at Tunica was remarkable, winning not one, but two vehicles, much to the delight of his family and friends.
His proudest accomplishments stemmed from being a devoted husband to Monelle, who has preceded him in death, and a nurturing father to his children: Gracie Wharton (Junior), Debbie Hutchins (Michael), Thomas Neal Moody (Corilee), and Mark Holt (Lisa). He found endless joy in being a grandfather to Christy Hutchins, Bobby Joe Holt (Candice), Brooke Spears (Jody), Chase Holt, and Jeremy Wharton, and was a loving great-grandfather to Maeley Hutchins, Jackie Thomas Hutchins, Gretta Holt, and Dawson Holt. Each of them holds the beautiful memories of Thomas dear to their hearts, embodying the lessons and warmth he imparted. Thomas was preceded in death by his brothers David Lee Moody, Joe Moody, Troy Moody, and John Moody, along with grandson Brent Hutchins, whom he shared countless cherished moments with.
The visitation to honor Thomas will take place on October 28, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home in North Little Rock, Arkansas, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Concord Cemetery in Lonoke, Arkansas at 3:30 PM the same day.
As we celebrate the life of Thomas E. Moody, let us remember the laughter, the lessons, and the unwavering love he imparted. His legacy of hard work, resilience, and joy will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider a donation to One More for Brent, a nonprofit set up to honor the memory of Thomas’ cherished grandson, Brent Hutchins. www.onemoreforbrent.com 6804 Noble Rd Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076
