Thomas "Tom" Ollie, 87, of North Little Rock passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Ollie, of North Little Rock; two sons, Thomas W. Ollie, Jr. and wife, Connie, of Swansea, Illinois and Timothy L. Ollie, Sr., of Monticello; two daughters, Tamra L. Pianalto and husband, David, of Lowell, Arkansas and Teresa L. Anderson, of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Kasey, Samantha, T.J., Joe, Christy, and Zach; five great-grandchildren, Reid, Ryland, Kaitlyn, Kylie and Elizabeth Claire; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Margaret Ollie.
Mr. Ollie's accomplishments and service included the following.
World War II Veteran, Barrett Hamilton, Inc. 20 years Sales Representative
and manager where he received the Arkansas Marketing Award for
Outstanding Salesman. Vice President United Dollar Stores, Owner of Tom
Ollie School of Insurance, National Vice President of United States Jaycees,
first recipient of the Arkansas Clint Dunagan Award, JCI Senatorship
Award, Charter Member of Riverside Rotary Club, 32nd Degree Mason,
Recipient of many rotary and civic organizational awards, Song Leader
Triune Sunday School Class First United Methodist Church. The Jaycee
"Tom Ollie Key Man Award" was named in honor of Mr. Ollie. 2013 will
culminate 71 years of community service to his city, state and nation.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
