Tommy R. Adams

Tommy R. Adams, age 79, of Kirby, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

He was born on June 10, 1943, in Rosboro, the son of John Doyle Adams and Janie Herring Adams.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Don Hyram Adams, Billy Adams and John “Snook” Adams; and his sister, Martha Jane May.  On March 1, 1968, he was married to the true love of his life, Fredda Mae Cowart.

Tommy was a 1962 graduate of Kirby High School and a United States Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam.  Following his time in the service, he was employed with Alltel Communications, later Windstream working as a lineman for over thirty-two years until his retirement. Tommy was a faithful member of the Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church, where he loved his church family.  He had a passion for gardening, but above all, Tommy loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed following and watching his grandchildren playing in their basketball games, always being a proud Kirby sports fan.

Tommy was a wonderful husband, Daddy, Papaw, brother and friend, who dearly loved his family and cherished every moment he spent with them.  He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him, but he has left so many cherished memories for his family to hold on to and to fill each of their hearts forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fredda Adams of Kirby; his children and their spouses, Tina and Jeremy Hill of Kirby and Sean and Amy Adams of Pearcy; his seven grandchildren, Adam Taylor, Aspen Taylor, Asher Glasspool, Mason Adams, Brittany Hill, Jeron Hill and Maylee Hill; his four great-grandchildren, Sawyer Taylor, Slayter Taylor and Aiden and Axel Gonzales; his brother, Joe Bob Adams of Kirby; his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Jerry Turner of Glenwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
