Truit W. Smith, age 72 of Bismarck died Wednesday, Jan 3, 2007 at his home. He was born April 29, 1934, in Bismarck, AR the son of the late Clark W. and Gracie Alice Ledbetter Smith. He was a printer for the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center and a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Midway Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Bee Utyesonich Smith; one son, David W. Smith of Hope; one daughter, Ann M. Wheeler of Greeley, CO; one brother, Don "Butch" Smith and wife, Sherry of Caney; two brothers-in-law, Nick Utyesonich and wife, Judy and Homer Brewer and wife, Sondra; three sisters-in-law, Eva Ruth Smith, Elsie Smith Prince and Mary Botter; three sisters, Christine Sanders of Caney, Meathel Godby and husband, Owen and Maxine Wilson and husband, Mancel all of Memphis.
Funeral services 1:30 PM Saturday, Jan 6, 2007 at the Midway Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Trammel officiating. Interment will be in the Caney Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Caney Cemetery Fund c/o Estelle Wilson 1247 Lucky Pine Rd, Donaldson, AR 71941.
