Van A. Malcom, age 93 of Okolona died Monday, March 27, 2006 at the Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He was born Feb. 14, 1913 in Okolona, AR the son of the late Charlie and Irene Buchannon Malcom. He was a retired rural letter carrier, a farmer and a member of the Gurdon Masonic Lodge #187 for over 50 years. He was a deacon and member of the Okolona Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Vesta Roberson Malcom.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Malcom and wife, Wilma of Okolona and Joe Malcom and wife, Barbara of Mt. Juliet, TN; one daughter, Judy and her husband Wayne McCauley of Okolona; one sister, Ester Marie Worthan of Blevins; nine grandchildren, Kent and Anita Malcom, Tina Rowe, Alan and Rhonda Deaton, Rick and Teresa McCauley, Gary and Charlotte McCauley and Vanna and Steve Eddington, LeAnne and Chris Mitchell, Shawn Sullivan, Michael and Jennifer Malcom; eighteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in the Okolona Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Jones and Rev. Charlie Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Okolona Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
