Vance Bryant

On the morning of December 26, 2012, our loving husband and father, James Vance Bryant went home to be with Jesus. Vance was born December 22, 1928 and had just celebrated his 84th birthday.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Minnie Plummer Bryant and James Charles Bryant, his brother Frank and sisters Charlene and Barbara.
Vance is survived by his wife of almost sixty-two years, Ellen (Gregg) Bryant; his children, Debbye Jackson of North Little Rock, Karen Babson (Terry) of Sherwood, Paula Wooldridge (Tim) of North Little Rock, Carol Bryant, Tim Bryant (Pam) and David Bryant, all of Austin; grandchildren, Kim Springer (Jason), Jason Jackson (Leah), Tiffani Tatum, Kevin Keener, Drew Wooldridge, Brandon Duke, Brayden Bryant, Chad Bryant and Haylea Bryant; great-grandchildren, Bryant Springer, Chloe Tatum, Cooper Springer, Jayden Jackson, Tristan Jackson and Callie Tatum; foster children, Sandy Price, Bonnie Allen, Stephanie Henson and Chris Stamper; sisters, Madie Fields, Marion Glover, Sybil Glover, Patsy Bates, Martha Bowen and Ramona Thompson, and sister-in-law Wanda Bryant of North Little Rock; and many other nieces, nephews, friends, family and neighbors whom will all miss him very much.
Vance served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. He loved his country. After being wounded in Korea he spent eighteen months in rehab, then heading home, he and his brother Frank opened Bryant Brothers Service Center where they worked together for the next forty-four years.
After retiring in 2002, Vance was able to spend more time on his farm baling hay and riding his tractors. He loved being outside and working on the farm.
In 2008 Vance was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, along with diabetes and later, dementia. He fought a good fight and now he has won the battle, for now he is at peace. Vance will be greatly missed by all of us for he was a good daddy, a good husband and a good provider.
We the family would like to say thank you to everyone for all your visits, phone calls and prayers throughout all of this time. It has meant a great deal to all of us. We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Fort Roots VA Hospital for all of your tender loving care you gave to our husband and father and all of our family. You have truly been a blessing to all of us.
