Velva Helm

Velva Sue Martiness Helm of Lonsdale passed away peacefully at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock on February 19, 2013. Formerly a resident of Jacksonville, Florida for over 30 years, she was known to family and friends as "Sue" and affectionately called "Mimi" by her grandchildren. She was born in Keo, Arkansas on October 15, 1940 to Velva Dolly Mobbs Martiness and E.C. Martiness, Jr.
She is preceded in death by both her parents; husband, Arthur H. Helm, Jr.; daughter, Virginia Suzanne Helm; sister, Kathleen Carlock; and one infant brother. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Marie Helm and future son-in-law William Wirtz, both of Mabelvale; son, Jerry E. Helm; grandson, Dustin B. Wirtz of Mabelvale; granddaughters, Sara A. Lunsford of Mabelvale and Samantha P. Neal of Bucyrus, Missouri; two great-grandsons, Leighvie and Lucas Neal of Bucyrus, Missouri; sisters, Patricia Kyzer (David) of Jacksonville, Doris Kyzer (Tony) of Jacksonville, Rita Miller of North Little Rock; brother, Jerry Martiness of Jacksonville; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation, Odyssey Hospice, and Hospice Home Care for their care and devotion.
A Graveside service will be held 12:00 noon, Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at North Little Rock, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72120.
