Verna Caroline Stafford Burks, 92,widow of Cecil W. Burks, Sr., passed away on Monday, January 2, 2006, in Little Rock. Born January 24, 1913, in Mt. Ida, Arkansas, to the late Ora Austin and Dovie DeLila Stafford, she was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Rosebud Garden Club and the Eastern Star. During her children's school years, she was an active participant in the PTA and their school events.
Verna is survived by her sons, Cecil Burks, Jr. and Roy Burks; her daughters, Kitty Burks Musticchi and Zetta Burks-Friday, all of Little Rock; her sister, Edna Haynes, of Bel Aire, Florida, along with 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 315 S. Hughes, Little Rock, AR 72205, at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2006, with Reverend James Walter officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Little Rock. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or the Little Rock Zoo. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 501-224-2200.
