Verna Hale

Verna L Hale was born in Sylvia, Kansas on March 24, 1931 to Ralph and Lola Keesling and passed away on July 7, 2013 at the age of 82. Verna grew up in Kansas and moved to California in 1956. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gerald L Hale. They were married on February 15, 1958 and she became a wife and a mother to his son Scott. A little over a year later they had a daughter Andrea. Verna was a proud Navy wife who moved with Gerald many times around the state of California and to Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1972, after his retirement from the Navy, they moved to his home state and lived the rest of their lives in North Little Rock, Arkansas. They were devoted to each other until his death in 2010. Verna spent her last years living in her lovely apartment on the 14th floor at the Lakewood House where she enjoyed her beautiful view and tending her flowers on her balcony.

Verna was pre deceased by her parents, her husband, Gerald, granddaughter, Jessica Ann Nichols, son-in-law, Larry James Nichols and sister, Myrland Keesling.

She is survived by her son, Scott Hale (Becky), daughter, Andrea Lynn Nichols, grandchildren, Lindsay Hale Bender (Nathan), Devon Hale and Jennifer Lynn Nichols, brother, Carl Keesling and sister, Thaylia Moran.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Ave., Little Rock, AR 72207.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
