Verna Lee "Chub" Foshee

Verna Lee "Chub" Foshee, age 88, of Glenwood, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018. She was born on July 12, 1929 at Glenwood, the daughter of Everett Lee Davis and Josie Almeda Horn Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jarrell "Dick" Foshee on December 24, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Gladys "Pookie" Sanders, Anna Klopfenstein, Betty Duke and Lorene Crawford. Verna was a member of the Glenwood Church of Christ. She started substitute teaching while a student at Glenwood High School. In 1952, she was recruited by a professor at Henderson State Teachers College to attend college classes on Saturday while teaching at Kirby Public Schools during the week. She also taught at Glenwood, Kensett and retired from Malvern Public Schools. Verna enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and caring for rescue dogs. She was an avid collector of costume jewelry and sold it at flea market booths that she and her husband managed. She had a great sense of humor, loved spending time with her sisters and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Philip Klopfenstein of Glenwood; and six nieces and nephews, Larry Sanders of Glenwood, Sherry Naylor of Conway, Susan Robbins of Greenbrier, Amanda Oakley of Mulberry, Neal Duke of Clearwater, Kansas and Scott Duke of Fort Worth, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Harold Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tracy Robbins, Larry Sanders, Joe Beene, Scott Duke, Neal Duke and Chuck Golden.
