Vernon J Pinkerton, age 85, of Newhope, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2025.

He was born on December 2, 1939 in Brushy. He was the son of Leonard D. and Eunice (Greene) Pinkerton. He is preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Opal Sue Bissell and Joy Fern Crabtree; his brother, Joel Ray Pinkerton; his nephew, Tom Eudy; his great-nephew, Jerry Dale Jones; and his great-niece, Brooke Ackley.

Vernon was a faithful member of the Athens Church of Christ where he loved Jesus and his church family. His pride and joy was his enormous arrowhead collection. He also had a very large antler display that he loved to brag about. He was a carpenter from a very young age, he built numerous homes, chicken houses, and businesses in Howard County and surrounding areas. He had a huge love for the Razorbacks and lots of other sports. 

He had a special love for Christmas Eve and would host his family every year. He also made a special gift bag of fruit and candy for his family. Vernon will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by one nephew, Ronney Bissell of Newhope; his seven nieces, Pam Cutler of Hot Springs, Rhonda (Scot) King of Hot Springs, Phyllis Parsons (Charlie) of Newhope, Sharon Ridgeway of Hot Springs, Linda Dallas of Nashville, Shiela (Charles) Whitaker of Newhope, and Shelly Boykin of Dierks; his sister-in-law, Ethel Pinkerton; his six great-nephews, Chris Williams, Gary Don (Sharee) Jones, Scotty (Sarah) King, James (Meagan) King, Eric (Lauren) Parsons, and Alex Eudy; his six great-nieces, Whitley (Taylor) Lingo, Kaela Beilstin, Jennifer McKnight, Candace McKnight, Jamie (Jonathan) Chandler, and Amber (Ryan) Wood; his eighteen great-great nieces and nephews, Christopher, Hudson, Amy, Katie, Erin, Tracy, Matthew, Lawson, Lucas, Levi, Layne, Curtis, Bristol, Brayden, Madison, Colton, Lucas, and Millie.

Pallbearers will be Charles Whitaker, Scott King, Garry Jones, Chris Williams, Charlie Oholendt, and Charlie Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers are his Athens Church of Christ Family, Charlie Smith, Ronney Bissell, Rhonda Mullen, and Gwen Smith. 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Athens Church of Christ with Taylor Sharp and Donnie Reid officiating.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to services from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Interment will be held at Bissell Chapel Cemetery.
