Versie Scott Barnes, of Little Rock, finished her mortal journey at the age of 99 on December 9, 2013 in Sherman, Texas.
Versie was born May 8, 1914 to James C. and Dicey Curtis Scott near Hector, Arkansas. She was the second oldest of 11 children and the last remaining member of that family.
Preceding her in death were husband Garner Ray Barnes, infant daughter Marian Rae Barnes, and son, James William (Buddy) Barnes. She is survived by two daughters, Geneva Horton and Kathy Doggett of Sherman, TX and son Jerry Barnes of Poulsbo, WA.
She was grandmother of 13, great-grandmother of 26 and great-great-grandmother of two.
Services will be held at Ironton Baptist Church in Little Rock on Friday Dec. 13. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial and brief graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. at Tyro Cemetery near Star City, Arkansas.
