Virgil McQueen

Virgil McQueen, 88, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away February 19, 2018. He was born March 3, 1929 in West Harrison, Indiana. Virgil graduated from Harrison High School and wed his beautiful bride, Sheila Cox. He attended College at the University of Cincinnati. In 1946, Virgil moved to Hamilton, Ohio upon taking employment at Fisher Body (General Motors), where he retired after 33 years working as an Engineering Analyst. Virgil dearly loved his family and his church, Tri-County Assembly of God in Fairfield, Ohio, where he volunteered many years of service. His passions in life included real estate, investments, history, traveling, and gardening. He was an avid story teller and jokester, offering much humor and love to family and friends. In 2012, Virgil moved to Arkansas due to health reasons to be near his daughter, Cheryl. There he attended First Assembly of God in North Little Rock.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Laura McQueen, one brother and four sisters, and his beloved wife of 64 years, Sheila Cox McQueen.

Virgil leaves behind his brother, Gene McQueen; sisters, Barbara Lanham and Wanda Combs; daughters, Cheryl Richards (David), Lana Smith, and Monica McQueen; his grandchildren David Richards (Ronda), Julie Hillegas (Greg), Scott Richards (Jill), Shannon Richards, Brooke Elkin (Jim) and Beth Perkins (Kyle); great grandchildren Riley and Conley Hillegas, Jackson and Evan Richards, Josiah, Sophia, and Sara Richards, Jack Missman, Julia and Benjamin Elkin, and Talon Perkins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beth Perkins (care of Ivey Funeral Home), in honor of Virgil's great grandson, Talon, who will be having his eighth surgery February 27th. Please see his story on his Facebook page, Talon's Heart Journey.

The life of Virgil McQueen will be celebrated Friday, February 23, 2018 with visitation at 1:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm at Ivey Funeral Home at Rose Hill Burial Park, Hamilton, Ohio.
