Virginia Hearne

Virginia Lorene Hearne, 90, of Sherwood was called home on October 4, 2019.  She was born September 14, 1929 to the late Joseph Eugene and Nellie Pearl (Stell) Johnson in Decatur, Alabama.  Her family moved to Arkansas when she was still an infant.

She attended Princeton High School, in Dallas County Arkansas where she found her love for basketball and was an All State player.  She graduated in 1947, and married Judson A. Hearne on June 22, 1947.  In 1967 she began working at Arkansas Children’s Colony in Alexander, where she worked with disabled children.  In 1982 she graduated from Arkansas Beauty College.  However, her greatest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Judson; two sisters Laura Green and Gertrude Spann; and two brothers Earl and Eddie Murrah.

She is survived by her children Janelle Bowie (Mike) and Larry “Dustin” Hearne (Beverly); five grandchildren, Julie Shelby (Brent), Courtney Robbins, Gregory Dustin Hearne (April), Kelly Nicole Hearne, Drew Owen Hearne (Whitney), seven great – grandchildren; sisters Murle Pennington, Dorothy Reed and brother James Murrah and Dewayne Murrah.

Visitation will be at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home, Monday October 7, 2019 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM.  Graveside service will be 1:00 PM  Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Stoney Point Cemetery in Fordyce.
