W. Ray Stallard

W. Ray Stallard, age 92, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away April 8, 2024. He was born May 12, 1931, in Stratton, Virginia. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cabot.

Ray was a Retired US Army Veteran of 21 years. His last active-duty assignment was in The Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy of 58 years and his parents Everett and Maude Stallard, of Stratton, Virginia. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Delbert L. Stallard, and stepsister, Betty Sue Pack.

Ray is survived by daughter, Elizabeth A. Windhorst (Warren) and two sons, Mark A. Stallard (Amber), David W. Stallard; grandchildren, Valerie Rogers (Brad) Christy Maness (Matt), Joshua A. Stallard, Carlie P. Stallard; great-grandchildren, Aidan Lambe, Amy Lambe, Avery Freeman, and London Maness; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ray's second career was a residential home builder and remodeler. He supervised the construction of numerous new homes and remodeling projects for a period of 45 years in the Central Arkansas area. He was a member of the Arkansas Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock and served as a member of the Board of Directors for several years. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his son, Mark, and brother-in-law, Ray Johnson. Ray built a weekend house on Rainbow Island, Little Red River that he, family, and friends enjoyed for 20 years of fun and relaxation. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM -11:30 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Highway 107) with a funeral service at 11:30 AM.  Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
