Wallace M. Asay, Sr., 92, of Little Rock passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Wallace was born in Sioux City, Iowa on April 19, 1921. A veteran of the United States Army, he was a Prisoner of War during the Invasion of Normandy, was decorated with two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts and was a past Commander of the Royal Order of the Purple Hearts. Wallace was an administrator with the Veterans Administration, and after his retirement, continued to volunteer at the VA Hospital for fifteen years.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Asay of Little Rock; son, Wallace Asay, Jr. (Mary) of Benton; daughters, Susan Burris (Gary) of Benton and Debbie Satterfield (Randy) of Little Rock; son-in-law, Chuck Lawbaugh of Texas; brother, Charles Asay of Santa Maria, California; sister, Patricia Stracener of Hawaii; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Ann Lawbaugh; granddaughter, Cindy Kay Asay; brother, John Asay; and sister, Delores Wright.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Graveside services with Military Honors are Thursday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, officiated by Bro. Don Cooper. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
