Wanda Anthony

Listen to Obituary

Wanda Lee Anthony, 87, of Sherwood, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2026. Born August 11, 1938, in Newport, Arkansas, to Jefferson D. and Savilla (England) Wagster, she came into this world with a spark that never dimmed.

She retired as Vice President of Customer Service at International Business Forms before taking on her most important title: Memaw. A longtime member of Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock, she was a faithful presence in the Golden Agers and the Fellowship Sunday School class.

Wanda and her beloved Carl were a pair in every sense, dancing two-steps, riding motorcycles, and rolling cross-country in an RV to places that made for great stories to tell around the table. At home, she was always thinking two meals ahead, because in Wanda’s world, nobody left hungry and nobody left unloved. She played Canasta, she loved to sew and quilt, she watched her birds, and she read countless books, but mostly she laughed, the kind of laugh you could hear from the next room and that made you want in on whatever was happening. Her smile could light up a room without saying a word.

She loved her children dearly and her grandsons fiercely, cheering them on with the kind of loyalty that never wavered and never needed to announce itself. She always made sure they knew it too, closing every conversation with the phrase: “Love you to heaven and back.” Those words ring truer now more than ever.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Carl Anthony; her parents, Jefferson D. and Savilla (England) Wagster; and her siblings, Thelma Pickett, Norman Wagster, Billy Joe Wagster, Emogene Carr, and E.J. Wagster.

She is survived by her son, Ronald May of Sherwood; daughter, Rebecca Morris (Earl III) of Jacksonville; and grandsons, Earl Morris IV of Gainesville, Florida, and Robert Morris of Sherwood. She is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation is 10:00 AM, with the funeral to follow at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Faith Baptist Church, North Little Rock, with Pastor Todd Dornan officiating. Burial will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
