Wanda M. Henthorn Dickson

Wanda Mae Henthorn Dickson passed from this life into the arms of her precious Jesus on June 24, 2025 at the age of 91. Born July 23, 1933 in Opal, Arkansas to her parents, Walter Burnis Henthorn and Ollie Lawrence Henthorn. Within six weeks, her dad died. Her mother remarried a few years later, which prompted her grandparents to assume the responsibility of raising her. She grew up in Kirby, Arkansas, where she graduated Valedictorian of Class of 1951. She found her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church in Kirby. Her faith served her well for 80-plus years.

Shortly after graduation, she met Thomas J. Dickson and was married on December 23, 1951. From this marriage, four children were born; Wanell M. Dickson, Jeffery J. Dickson, Dwayne R. Dickson, and Quen D. Dickson. She was a good wife and the best of moms. She took her duties and responsibilities very seriously, never taking shortcuts.

She served various hospitals and nursing facilities with 50 years devoted to that career. She gave her career the same attention her family received.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Mary and Cash Lawrence; her parents, her husband, her daughter Wanell; her son, Quen; and all of her siblings, Evelyn Putman Rogers, Irvalene Putman Harrison, and Nolan L. Putman.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Debbie and Dwayne and Becky; her grandchildren, Jason and Jonathon Martin, Michelle Brown and Luke Dickson, Alex, Cherie and Lynn Dickson, Shane Dickson, Cheyenne Dickson, Dina Keefer, Jody Smith, and Jennifer Hogeland; 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on June 30, 2025 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm at Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs, located at 2205 Airport Road, Hot Spring, AR 71913.
