Wayne Martine Marcussen

Wayne Martine Marcussen died on July 6, 2023, in Benton, Arkansas at Pleasant Hills Magnolia House for Senior Care. He was born on May 13, 1938, to William and Sammie Priest Marcussen in Monticello, Arkansas.

Wayne graduated from Drew Central High School in 1956. He joined the U. S. Army in 1957 and served in Turkey and Germany, as well as in the United States. Wayne enrolled in Southeast Community College in Pine Bluff and after obtaining an A.A. Degree in Drafting, he went to work for Varco Pruden Metal Buildings as a Draftsman. He retired as Materials Manager with Varco Pruden after 38 years of service.

In 1962, Wayne married Sarah Ann Cruce; they were married for 61 years. They were blessed with a wonderful daughter, Kim who brought them much joy and happiness. These were wonderful years! They enjoyed playing Canasta with couples they would meet throughout the years, following the Arkansas Razorbacks with James and Faye Freeman, and traveling to Branson, Missouri with their granddaughter, Megan. They also enjoyed attending Daniel O'Donnell concerts, as well as the other Branson folks, meeting in Mexico Beach in the summers with Sarah's sisters and their families and traveling to South Dakota and Montana. There was also an unforgettable trip to Europe with Megan, their granddaughter, and the Bryant Band, as well as trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and Washington, D. C..

Wayne was a member of the Tennessee Spur Hunting Club in Monticello, where you could usually find him during deer season. When not hunting at the deer camp, he would most likely be with James Keller fishing at the White River Reservoir. In addition, there was always turkey and duck hunting at Seven Devils in Monticello. Wayne was a Mason and member of Lodge 69 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was an avid reader of non-fiction books and literature. Wayne was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and was active until his late illness.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah; daughter, Kim Marcussen; brother, Gaylon Marcussen, and his wife Bea of Rogers, Arkansas; granddaughter, Megan Hill, and husband, Nathan Hill of North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Sammie Marcussen;

infant son, Wesley Martine Marcussen; sister, Daisy Suitt, and brother, Glennon Marcussen.
