Wayne C. Sandy, beloved father and grandfather, passed away on August 31, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born on August 1, 1944, in Keokuk, Iowa, Wayne devoted over 30 years as a lumber grader with Weyerhaeuser before retiring. He graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, which laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and dedication.

Throughout his life, Wayne was not just a skilled professional but also an engaging member of his community. He was proud to be involved with several organizations including the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau (SPIB) and was an active member of the Oaklawn Church of God. His passion for service and caring for others shone brightly in both his personal and professional life.

Wayne had a warm and generous spirit, always leaving his door open to family, friends, and anyone in need of a helping hand or a place to rest. He was an avid cook, a devoted coach, a talented woodworker, and nurtured a lifelong love for farming. No matter the venture, Wayne was always eager to support and encourage others in their pursuits. His heart was large, and he touched many lives with his kindness, embodying the essence of a true servant of God.

He is survived by his sons, Kelly Fitzhugh (Janelle), of Hot Springs, AR, and Scott Fitzhugh (Candy), of Sheridan, AR; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Ethan Fitzhugh, Luke Fitzhugh, Robyn Fitzhugh, Savannah Fitzhugh, Ty Fitzhugh, Jasey Fitzhugh and Colby Fitzhugh.

Wayne reunites with his parents Clyde Frederick Sandy and Ruth Marie Benda (Flannelly), his wife of 43 years, Paula Jean Sandy, and his son, Ian Reeves, who preceded him in death.

To honor Wayne's life, there will be a visitation with family on September 5, 2025, at the Oaklawn Church of God in Hot Springs, Arkansas, beginning at 3:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his profound impact on all who knew him.
