Weldon D Phillips

January 1, 1942 — May 16, 2024

Pearcy, AR

Weldon D. Phillips 82, of Pearcy, Arkansas, entered heaven’s gates on May 16, 2024.

Weldon was born January 1, 1942, in San Pedro, California, to Lorinzey Dow and Mattie Mae Phillips. He is preceded in death by his parents and his ten siblings.

He is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Wright (Doug), Shelly Troutman (Jerry) , Tina Langley (Chuck) and one son, Darryl Phillips (Eloise), ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, which made five generations. He also leaves behind  several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Weldon was a beloved father, “Papaw” and friend. He never met a stranger. To know him, was to love him.

If you asked Weldon to describe his life in three words, he would say, “Mi Vida Loca”, a Spanish phrase that means, “My crazy life”.  He loved fishing, hunting, camping, good music, family gatherings, but mostly he loved the lord, his family, and his Boston Terrier, Mattie Mae.

He had a contagious laugh and always had a hug to share. He would also share his opinion, even if it was unwanted. Weldon had a pretty large family, but always managed to mail out or hand deliver birthday cards and make telephone calls to sing, “Happy birthday” and remind you how much you were loved by him.  He was a thoughtful man.   Even during his recent illness, he always asked how others were doing.

He will be missed immensely, but knowing that his health is now restored and he has reunited with his parents and siblings in his eternal home gives the family peace and joy.

Psalm 73:26 says, "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever".

Weldon will have a celebration of life on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home 2205 Airport Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas, 71913 officiated by Brother George Vincent. Visitation will be on Monday, evening, May 20, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
