Willard Gene "Bimbo" Cogburn age 74, of Kirby went leaping, dancing, and rejoicing into the arms of the Savior on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He loved to be in the woods with God's creation and watch it come to life in the morning with God's light and go rest in the evening with dusk. Gene was a great teller of stories and had a tremendous wit. He lived in the last few years of his life with exceptional faith in Jesus to the fullest. He loved to talk about the Lord and took every opportunity to invite you to "his church." he was a very important member of the Glenwood Assembly of God and will be missed in his position of hospitality.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Judy, in 2013 and I am sure he has by now found his "woman." He also was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Helen Cogburn; and one sister, Linda Wisdom.
He is survived by his only son, Jason (Charissa) Cogburn of Kirby; his four grandchildren, Shandalon (Jared) Kennom, James (Rachael) Cogburn, Brooklyn Cogburn all of Kirby, and Michael (Sierra) Cogburn of Glenwood; his five great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Margie (Jerry) Moore of Dierks and Crystal Parker of Glenwood; his two brothers, Daniel (Meme) Cogburn and Hiram Travis (Teresa) Cogburn of Glenwood; and many special nieces and nephews he loved and treated as his own and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cogburn, James Cogburn, Michael Parker, Dean Cogburn, Willie Nelson, and Daniel Neal.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Kitchens, Jared Kennom, the members of the Buzzard Roost Hunt Club, the Men's Ministries Group of the Glenwood Assembly of God, and the staff of National Park Medical Center ICU and staff of CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs ICU.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Glenwood Assembly of God with Pastor Timothy Nelson officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
