William Larry Alumbaugh

William Larry Alumbaugh was born on September 10, 1946, to the late Lawrence and Levelle Zeiger Alumbaugh, in Lake City, Arkansas. He passed away at home in Benton, Arkansas on November 18, 2023.

Larry was raised on a farm in Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School in 1964. After attending Arkansas State College, Larry began his printing industry career at W.A. Krueger Co. in Jonesboro.

On December 26, 1975, Larry was united in marriage to Katherin Wheeler in Pocahontas, Arkansas. They were blessed with almost 48 years of marriage and two sons. Larry’s career led the family to Strasburg, Virginia, and then Clarksville, Tennessee, where he assisted in printing plant start-ups. In 1992, they moved to Louisville, Kentucky, and Larry began working in printing sales and technical services.

In 2009, Katherin and Larry moved back to Jonesboro to be closer to family. Larry traveled extensively during his long career, including several trips to Japan, Germany, and France. He and Katherin enjoyed traveling together throughout their marriage, and their favorite place was Kauai. Larry was lucky to be able to visit all 50 states in our great country.

At his death, Larry was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Alexander, Arkansas, where he continued his lifelong mission of serving others. While in Virginia, he was an active member of the local volunteer fire and rescue company. He later served as a Boy Scout leader, taking the boys on monthly camping trips and high adventure excursions.

He could always be counted on to serve his church family in Louisville by assisting the sound team, manning a BBQ grill, or chaperoning youth trips.

In addition to his wife Katherin, Larry is survived by their sons Eric (Melissa) and Ryan (Ashley) Alumbaugh. Grandchildren Claire, Carlie, Colton, Declan, Jules, and Owen were blessed to call him the greatest Pawpaw. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Smith, and brother, John Alumbaugh, and a host of other family and friends, who will all miss his friendship and humor. He is preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Mary Despain.
