William "Bill" Richard Henson

William “Bill” Richard Henson, 87, of North Little Rock, AR passed away Friday, September 8, 2023.  Born in Little Rock, AR, he was a hydrologic engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 38 years.  During this time, he received many accolades including Engineer of the Year and many distinguished service awards.  In retirement, he continued his work as a wetlands consultant and is a lifelong proponent of wetlands conservation.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed many past times, including hunting, fishing, softball, and gardening.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Lavelle Henson, and his daughter, Karen Henson Carter, all of North Little Rock.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Barabara Price Henson, his son, Greg (Sonya) Henson, his daughter, Leslie (Alexander) Kita, grandchildren, Jerad (Christina) Henson, Matthew Henson, Amy Henson, Will Carter, Camille Kita, Collin Kita and two great grandchildren, Trusten and Wade Henson.  He is also survived by his brothers, George (Shirley) Henson and Gordon (Madonna) Henson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.  Internment will be at Arkansas Memorial Gardens.
