William "Billy" F. Eppes, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on August 22, 1940, in Vanndale, Arkansas, and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quick wit, and the joy he found in making others laugh.
Billy was never one to sit still. After graduating high school, he spent much of his career traveling the roads of Arkansas as a salesman for The Bread Company and Mrs. Smith's Bakery, a job he truly enjoyed because it kept him on the move and allowed him to meet people wherever he went. He later owned and operated a country store alongside the love of his life, Brenda, where friendly conversation and laughter were just as common as the items on the shelves. Even after retiring, Billy couldn't resist staying busy. He drove vehicles for Landers, and when he eventually gave up driving, he continued working by delivering paperwork and contracts to local car dealerships. He simply loved being on the road and always found a way to keep going.
Anyone who knew Billy knew he loved cars. Antique automobiles were one of his greatest passions, and the Shelby Cobra was his favorite. He could spend hours watching restoration shows and had an incredible ability to identify nearly any make and model of car just by passing it on the road or spotting it on a dealership lot. His knowledge and appreciation for automobiles never faded.
Billy's family affectionately described him as "a mess," and anyone who knew him would probably agree. He was a true character with a dry sense of humor and a talent for pushing buttons just to get a reaction. If Billy was picking at you, chances are he cared about you. He loved keeping everyone on their toes and made sure there was never a dull moment. His grandchildren lovingly knew him as "Grandy," a name he chose because he wanted something a little different, and it suited him perfectly.
Billy's greatest pride was his family. He loved them deeply, was always willing to help however he could, and worked hard throughout his life to provide for those he loved. Though he had a playful way of showing it, there was never any doubt how much his family meant to him.
Billy's legacy of love is carried on by his devoted daughter, Nicole (Mike) Rose; his treasured grandchildren, Madison Riley, Anna Claire Davis, and Landon Rose; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss his humor, his stories, and the unique way he made every gathering a little more entertaining.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Brenda Eppes; his parents, William F. Eppes, Sr. and Mildred T. Eppes.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to The Manor and Hospice Home Care for their compassionate care, kindness, and support.
A visitation will be held in Billy's honor on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 211 S. Market St., in Benton, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Billy's name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
William "Billy" Eppes, Jr. will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the open road and classic cars, and the laughter he brought to those around him. His stories, his humor, and the love he had for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.
