William Blair

William Lewis "Bill" Blair, 93, died March 26, 2019. He was born in North Little Rock on October 7, 1925 to Manchie Lee and Opal Tarvin Blair who predeceased him, along with his older brother, Ashby O'Neal "Neal" Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne "Sue" Blair; two sons, John Blair (Pam) and their children, Britney (Brett), Kyle, Riley, Hannah and Walker and granddaughter, Madelyn Grace; and Greg Blair (Julie) and their children, Jason, Jacob, Justin and Ashley; niece, Susan Hickman (Jim) and nephew, Steve Blair (Susan); and many great nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from Little Rock High School where he played in the band; then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School in Fayetteville where he was president of Lambda Chi Alpha, member of Delta Theta Phi, Alpha Kappa Psi, Blue Key, Student Senate, president of Inter-Fraternity Council, Razorback Band and the Acappella Choir. He was voted Campus Notable in 1951.

Mr. Blair practiced law in Springdale where he also served as City Attorney. He moved to Little Rock, practiced law and retired from Worthen Bank and Trust Company after 32 years as Senior Trust Officer and Vice-President. He was also a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University. He served as president and life member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Little Rock and Kiwanis regional Lt. Governor and was a George Hixson Fellow. He was past president of the Central Arkansas Estate Council, member of the Arkansas Choral Society, cast member and producer of the Pulaski County Bar Association Gridiron for 32 years, and served on the boards of the Arkansas Symphony, Arkansas Diabetes Association and SCAT.

He volunteered for LifeQuest, was a member of the Grande Maumelle Sailing club since 1965, was a Bible teacher at the Arkansas Veterans Home and was an usher for the Razorback games at War Memorial Stadium for 40 years.

As a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, he sang in the choir for 27 years, played in the orchestra, taught a men's Bible class and worked in the Food Pantry. He was a student of history and Bible prophecy. He was proud of his family, and of his loyalty and dependability in all his endeavors.

Services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church on Monday, April 1 at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Rev. Rick Jaggars. A reception will follow the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp, 5512 Ferndale Cutoff, Little Rock, AR 72223 or to Immanuel Baptist Church Food Pantry, 501 N. Shackleford, Little Rock, AR 72211.
