William "Doc" Plyler, age 85, our loving husband, father and grandfather, of Glenwood, formerly of Sims, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013. He was born on August 30, 1927 at Sims, the son of Sam Plyler and Lee Elder Plyler. On July 4, 1947, he married Ina Marie Stovall. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, his infant sister, Cleo Townsend, Lillie Summitt and Ann Scott; one brother, Waymon Orlo Plyler; and his daughter-in-law, Vicki Plyler. Mr. Plyler served in the U. S. Navy and was a member of the Faith Tabernacle in Mount Ida. He was retired from Mount Ida Footwear after twenty-two years of service as maintenance supervisor. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Ina Marie Plyler of Glenwood; two sons and his daughter-in-law, Randy Plyler of Weatherford, Texas and Mark and Velma Plyler of Glenwood; three grandchildren, Randy Plyler and his wife Sheila and Misty Plyler, all of Weatherford, Texas and Anthony Plyler of Glenwood; ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Hezzie Summitt of Sims and Norvil Scott of Glenwood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday March 12, 2013 at Faith Tabernacle in Mount Ida with Bro. Paul Burke and Bro. Jerry Fagan officiating. Interment will be in the Rocky Cemetery at Sims under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Visitation will be Monday evening, 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Faith Tabernacle. Pallbearers will be Terry Summitt, Jerry Summitt, David James, Leon Stovall, Gary Don Stovall, Anthony Plyler and Randy Plyler, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the caring and compassionate staff of the Glenwood Health and Rehab.
