William Stracener

William "Bruce" Stracener, 77, of Jacksonville, passed away May 1, 2017. He is survived by his son, Bruce W. Stracener; his half-sister, Sue Stracener; his step-daughter, Linda Glover; and his dear friends, Paul, Eddie and Helen Scott, Ron and Carolyn Holbrook, Doug Watson and David Walls. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Stracener; his mother, Ella Marie New; and his wife, Clark Stracener.

Bruce was a devoted husband and father (even if occasionally ornery). He was a man of few words, but much thought. He worked diligently his entire life. He joined the Navy directly out of high school where he learned his trade as an electrician. He worked in that capacity for the rest of his life, holding a handful of civilian jobs, most for well over a decade. He enjoyed cars, steak and movies, especially westerns. Bruce loved to tinker and could fix just about anything he laid his hands on. The circumstances of his life were, at times, far from calm, but he invariably remained a (and often THE) stabilizing force amidst the chaos...and many are in his debt.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be Thursday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501)224-2200. Bruce's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
