William Hollis “Bill” Summar, Jr., age 93, of Arkadelphia passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024. He was born October 15, 1930 in Moro, Arkansas to Hollis and Effie Barrett Summar. He was a member of Third Street Baptist Church and was an ordained Baptist deacon. He graduated from Moro High School and was a United States Veteran serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Nancy Clark on November 3, 1952. He retired from Frito-Lay. After retirement, he worked for Daily Lumber Company.
Mr. Summar was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Demetra Gannaway; and sister-in-law, Lucille Summar.
Mr. Summar is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nancy Summar; daughters, Marsha Griffin (Tiger) of Arkadelphia and Janet Smith (Check) of Walnut Grove, Missouri; sister, Wanda Hawkins (Bob); and brother, John Summar. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Heather, Heath (Lacey), Haley, Chad (Becky), Clay (Sara); six great-grandchildren, Duke, Collin, Hunter, Rebecca, Claire, Rae Lee, one great-grandson on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2024 at Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Brother Greg Lathem, Brother Don Tallison, and Brother Ed Anderson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift to a charity of your choice.
