William Walters

William Grady "Bill" Walters, Jr., age 78, of Beebe, Arkansas was born October 15, 1939 at Pottsville, Arkansas to William G. Walters, Sr. and Helen Louise (Manus) Walters, and he passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Beebe. He proudly served his country for a combined 27 years in the Army, Air Force and Army National Guard. As a Vietnam veteran, Bill was a member of the Triple Nickel construction crew where he operated heavy equipment. He was past Commander of VFW Post 7769 in Beebe and a current member of VFW Post 2330 in Searcy. Bill was a good good man, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Walters; sons Jerold Walters (Nancy) of Omaha, Nebraska, W. G. Walters, III (Allison) of Winnipeg, Canada; three step sons, Allan Davis (Pam), William Davis (Sheila) and Jeff Davis (Marla) all three of Wynne; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Lynette, T.J., Tiffany, Naomi, Ashley, Dawn, and Dianna; five step grandchildren, Devan, Ally, Ethan, Allan, and Whitney; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; six sisters, Carolyn Walters Hockaday of McRae, Marilyn Walters Whorton (Jerry) of Russellville, Wanda Russell of Chesapeake, Virginia, Sharon West of California, Marilyn Price of Beebe and Linda Bischoff of Michigan; five brothers, Ronnie Walters (Peggy) of Searcy, Charlie Aldridge (Leah) of St. Louis, Missouri, Gary Aldridge of Florida, Windel Hawk of Jacksonville and Jim Hawk (Joy) of Clinton.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; stepmothers, Evelyn Mahan and Lucille Bass; stepfathers, Curly Aldridge and Bob Berry; sisters, Sharon Kay Phillips, Cheryl Reily, Joyce Marie Smith and Betty Blackwell; brothers Phillip Walters and Robert "Bob" Walters.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas State Veterans Home, 2401 John Ashley Dr., North Little Rock, AR 72114.
Family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. www.smithfamilycares.com
