Winston Scott Williams February 26, 1941 – August 20, 2025Winston Scott Williams, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away on August 20, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born on February 26, 1941, to James and Maude (Guffey) Williams, Winston lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, music, and unwavering faith. He proudly served in the United States Navy for a total of ten years across two separate enlistments, including multiple tours in Vietnam during his second term. Between his military service, he worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad, and after his honorable discharge, he pursued his passion for automotive work.
He spent many years as a skilled mechanic and body man, eventually owning and operating his own body shop for 12 years. Winston was also an avid musician, sharing his love of music with those around him. But his greatest legacy was his love for the Lord. A faithful, Godly man, Winston witnessed to nearly everyone he met. He never met a stranger, and it’s been said countless times that he was a man who not only “talked the talk, but walked the walk.
”He was a beloved husband, father, papaw, and friend. Winston shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Carolyn. Together, they raised three children: Shirl Blackford (Bobby), Glen Williams, and Tracy Kerr. He was a proud grandfather to Christina Long (Tyler), Dakota Kerr, and Elizabeth Kerr.
Winston was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elsie Whitson, his son Glen Williams, and his great-grandson Kai Scott Long. His family finds comfort in knowing that this isn’t “goodbye,” but rather “see you later.”Visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Crystal Hill Baptist Church, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. He will be interred at 1:00 p.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
