Yvonne Elizabeth Nelson, 97, of Little Rock, widow of Alfred Nelson, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2008. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts to Arthur and Ruth Richard on July 11, 1911, she became a singer and dancer during the Vaudeville era with the Keith Circuit in the New England area.
She loved adventure, including riding on the back of a motorcycle, parasailing, hot air ballooning, and the swing rides at the State Fair. She loved going to the casinos and traveling with her daughters, especially on cruises. Her grandchildren called her "Purple Grandma" and others affectionately called her "Toots."
Yvonne is survived by her daughters, Pat Watkins and husband, Frank of Little Rock and Kathy Anderson of Fairfield, Connecticut; grandchildren, Scott Goodfellow (Louise Regan) of Arlington, Texas; Pam Dostart (David) of Little Rock; Dawn Graham (Tom) of Knoxville, Tennessee; Lee Anderson (Chong) of Fairfield; and great-grandchildren, Nathan and Grace Dostart and Ji Young Anderson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
