Zelma James

Zelma Huckabee James, 93, of Heber Springs went to her Heavenly home on Monday, May 27, 2013. She was born December 8, 1919 in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas. She was a resident of Southridge Village in Heber Springs and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Zelma was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Olan James; parents, Sam and Audrey Huckabee; three brothers, Floyd Nolen, Kenneth and Sam Huckabee, Jr.; and her sister, Mary Bell Huckabee. She is survived by her sister, Erma Ripley (Rip), of North Little Rock; two sons, David Holmes (Lois) of Indiana and Mike Freeman (Sharon), of Cabot; two daughters, Evalena Squires and Mary Luckey, both of Quitman; seven grandchildren, Kim Parker, Shannon Cox, Tommy Armstrong, Lisa Lovin, Sandra Holmes, James Dalton and Justin Freeman; three great-grandchildren, Zach Lovin, Lacey Lovin and Sebastian Holmes; and her nieces and nephews.
Her older grandchildren remember many wonderful times together at Grandma Zelma's and Grandpa Olan's home in Alexander, Arkansas, sharing delicious meals, Easter egg hunts, etc. and the many animals which they all enjoyed.
We will all miss our mother and grandmother greatly, but are comforted to know she is with the Lord and reunited with her loved ones.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2013 at Forest Hills Memorial Park with her Grandson James Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
