Alvin Dailey

Alvin Leon Dailey, 90, of Little Rock passed away on Saturday, April 10 at Baptist Health Medical Center.

He was born May 20, 1930 in Turkey Scratch, Ark. to William Jennings and Lillie Mae (Stephens) Dailey, Alvin lived most of his life in Little Rock following his military service.

Alvin served during the Korean War in the Air Force where he served as a Loadmaster stationed in Japan. Late in life, he spent many days at Fort Roots V.A. Adult Day Center enjoying time with other veterans playing bingo and other activities.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Marilyn Simpson Dailey, whom he was married to for 64 years. He is also survived by his children, Keith Dailey (Margie) of England, Ark.; Carl Dailey (Kathi) of Louisburg, Kan.; Shaila Dailey Creekmore (Kevin) of Jonesboro; one brother, Dale Dailey (Karen) of Maumelle; and his grandchildren: Andrea, Renee, Brittany, Krystel, Brandy, Tiffany, Jessie, Samuel and Tyler; 14 great-grandchildren; and several other who he counted as his grandchildren.

Alvin was preceeded in death by his parents; brothers: William Hulet Dailey, Marlin Dailey, and W.J. Dailey; and sister Maxine Dailey Hickman.

Alvin was a driver for Central Arkansas Transit for more than 30 years before enjoying his retirement mowing and keeping up his 5-acres which he was very proud of. He could fix just about anything and enjoyed his garden every summer. He was most proud of his family and loved family reunions which always included friends, too.

For the past two and half years, Alvin resided at Col. Glenn Health & Rehab. The family cannot thank all the nurses, CNA’s and other staff enough for their care of Alvin. Especially over the past year, we never had to worry about his care, and they loved him like their own.

He was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church. The family will hold a private memorial service.
