Angel Smith

Angelica “Angel” Roshelle Smith, 43, of Little Rock transitioned Sunday, December 29, 2019. She was born June 21, 1976 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Angel graduated from Little Rock Central High School class of 1994, earned a basketball and academic scholarship to Rice University. “Jelly” was an All-State athlete. She graduated from Rice University, then Bowen Law School where she obtained her J.D. She was a dedicated foster mother of many. Angel was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Hezekiah “Hezzy” and F.S. Smith; maternal grandparents, S.B. and E.B. Kaisa.

Angel is survived by her father, Simmons S. Smith; mother, Flavia S. Smith; sons, Alexander Eugene Smith-Adkins and Anthony Jaylon “A.J” Smith; brothers, Simmons S. Smith II, and Kaisa Madison Smith; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in the U.S. and in Uganda, East Africa; her godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Broughton; and special friends, Aaryn Brown, Scott and Stuart Caldwell, Andre Smith, and Uncle Blake.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to funeral expenses c/o Smith NLR Funeral Home and/or the Children’s Education Fund.

Visitation hour will be held 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Mark Baptist Church, 5722 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204. Funeral service will be held immediately after visitation.
