Ann Butler

Ann Gatens Butler , 86 of Little Rock departed this life on December 26, 2020 to begin her greatest adventure. She was born January 22, 1934 to the late Joe and Maxine Ogden. She leaves behind her daughter Sharon Estes and husband Mark as well as son Keith Butler and wife Kim and their father Basil Butler. She was called ‘Granna’ by her grand children Emily Estes, Kristin Butler and Michael Butler. She was preceded in death by her daughter Bonnie and dear friend Jim Estes.

Ann was a devoted mother who always sought the best for her children and was a fantastic’Granna’ to the gran kids. She often took her Roadtrek and set up camp at their homes insisting they have fun and enjoy the outdoors.

Am was a wanderlust traveling to all 50 states often solo. She could find the most charming towns that were off the beaten path. In the summers she would head to Colorado so she could be in Frisco for July 4th and stay until the Aspen leaves changed. After retiring from teaching Ann would spend the winters in Arizona where she made many friends. She was even seen on Utube doing the Macarena.

Ann lived outdoor adventures, canoeing the Arkansas River in a gorilla suit, parasailing in Mexico, fly fishing on the Little Red River and hiding Easter eggs on a hiking trail for others to find.

She had many circles of interest in her life where she made many long lasting friendships. These included her classmates from Greenville,MS , Little Rock High School’s Dirty 13, bridge club, Ozark Society, a mah-Jongg group and wine tasting at Crush Wine bar. She loved to get together with the Rivercliff girls for games and food. She last gathered with them on December 21st for a warm sunny afternoon sitting outside. The family is forever grateful for her Rivercliff circle.

She served faithfully at her church, Pulaski Heights United Methodist and was actively involved in helping those when she could. Ann lived life to the fullest till the end, loving, serving and never wanting to be a burden.

Due to covid restrictions, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
