Barbara Stedman

Barbara Kay Stedman, age 71 of Sherwood, Arkansas was called home to her beloved JESUS Sunday July, 25, 2021.

She was born November 14, 1949 in Warren, Arkansas to the now deceased Marvin and Joyce Weeks.  She was a graduate of UALR, owner of Chicken Country, Sherwood for several years and retired from Coulson Oil after 20 years.

Barbara loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  She had many friends, especially, a dear, lifelong, hometown Fordyce Redbug , Darlene Hulka. In Barbara’s circles, she was the Queen of party bridge and had a tribe of bridge friends.  She was also known to confront a one armed bandit on occasion. She loved family gatherings during holidays when everyone devoured her 4 layer pie and chicken and dressing.  Barbara had a big heart and fighting spirit. Her 24 year war with breast cancer was an inspiration to all who knew her, even the doctors.  Her strong Christian faith carried her through many tough times. We were not ready for the Lord to call her home, but we find peace with His divine timing.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family, many friends and all who were blessed to know her. Left to forever cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Danny; two daughters, Dr. Stephanie Flaherty (Brent) and Stacey Riley (Jay); three grandchildren, whom she adored, Haley Flaherty, Stedman Riley and AnnaKay Flaherty; two brothers, Randy Weeks (Mary), Larry Weeks; two sisters, Marilyn Freer (Sonny) and Karen Dust (Greg), and other relatives.

The family would like to thank Dr. Issam Makhoul and Dr. Miriam Morse for their years of care.

Funeral service will be at 10:30AM Friday, August 6, 2021 at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107) with a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Samaritan’s Purse or American Cancer Society .
