Billy Carroll

Billy Eugene Carroll passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born October 14, 1930 in Newport, Arkansas, the son of Joe and Pearl Carroll.

Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory his beautiful and precious wife, Betty Carroll, daughters; Becky Puckett (Patrick), Leslie Cummings (Chris), Tracey Boyd (Ben), grandchildren; Brooke Cummings, Casey Cummings, Shea Boyd (Sharon), Haley Boyd, Sydney Wolfe (Aaron); great-grandchildren Porter Cummings, Carson Wolfe – all of whom he adored and was very proud of; he is also survived by in-laws Jo and Tommy Layton and Jane and Henry Hawk.

Billy graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1948 where he played on the basketball team and was voted most handsome in his senior year.

Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War, most notably as a member of the Battery C 464th anti-aircraft automatic weapons Battalion. After two years of service, Billy was honorably discharged earning a Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal (V), 3 Bronze Campaign Stars, Croix De Guerre, and Presidential Unit Citation.

After returning home, he joined the North Little Rock Police Department and retired as Captain after 20 years. Following retirement from the police force he worked as the sales manager at American Standard for 17 years.

Billy enjoyed coaching little league baseball and football, raising his bird dogs Bill’s Badboy Jake (Jake), Bill’s Speckled Pal (Speck), and Bozo, and hunting with his good friend, Don Monk. They always wanted to get enough birds to have a family quail supper for Betty’s dad’s birthday.

Breakfast outings were one of Billy’s favorite pastimes. He spent many Saturday mornings meeting family at Fisher’s for a short-stack. In later years, going to Hardees with his friend Don Jolly became a morning tradition.

Billy loved God, his family, his church home Central Baptist Church and his Sunday school class.

The family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice for their help and support during this time.
