Cecil Wright

Cecil Wayne Wright, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 14th. He was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, on June 14, 1944. Preceding him in death were his parents Dewey M. and Pearl Wright, and two of his children Christopher Wayne and Kimberly Rhea Wright.

Mr. Wright served honorably in the US Air Force for over 20 years. The majority of his time overseas was served in Southeast Asia, including service during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, he attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors’ Degree in Social Work. He went on to receive his Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas Little Rock. Following school, he worked at the Arkansas State Hospital as a psychiatric social worker until his retirement.

He is survived by Paulette, his wife of 58 years, and his daughters Krystal (Mike) McCammon, Tara (Mike) Kiger, and Kelly Mullen. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Drew McCammon, Tyler McCammon, Kayla McCammon, Kristoffer Kiger, Rebekah Kiger, Madelyn Kiger, and his great-grandson Jaxton McCammon.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.

He was an avid University of Alabama supporter and fan. Every year for the past decade, football season was spent in Tuscaloosa at Bryant-Denny Stadium. He had many friends who shared his passion for the Tide.

Most of all, he loved the Lord Jesus. Having been ordained a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Naha, Okinawa, he continued to serve faithfully in many churches over the course of his life. At the time of his death, he was a member of Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

Pallbearers will be Kristoffer Kiger, Drew McCammon, Tyler McCammon, Eric Lancaster, Monroe Flucas, Jr., and Billy Baily. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Central Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock on January 25. Visitation will begin at 10 AM and the service will be held at 11:30 AM, followed by the burial at North Little Rock Veterans Cemetery at 1 PM.
