Charlie Martin

Charlie Martin

Charlie Martin, age 67, of Sherwood, died unexpectedly at his home on November 19, 2020.

Charlie was born on June 12, 1953 a son of Don and Norma Martin. Charlie’s wife, Amanda Martin, preceded him in death September 18, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents Don and Norma and brother Lance Martin and Bill Bowen. He is survived by his brother Jimmy Bowen and wife Martha. He is survived by his sons Allen and wife Robyn Martin, Brian Tucker and wife Brittany, Ryan Dille and wife Kayla, and Ross Dille. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lainey and Dean Martin, Delanie Skye and Braiden Tucker, Keegan, Kiya, Maddox and Kelli Dille.

Charlie was a resident of Central Arkansas all of his life and lived the majority of his life in Sherwood. He graduated Hall High School in 1971 and attended UALR for two years. His career is quite the success story. He started in the Mail room and vault at Commercial National Bank and worked his way up to regional manager over several branches in North Little Rock area. Charlie retired January 3, 2014 from Arvest as VP of consumer lending after 17 years with 40 years total in banking. He was well loved and respected within his community. He served on the boards of the city of Sherwood, the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, North Little Rock Crime Stoppers and the Kiwanis club of North Little Rock. His favorite past time was playing golf and spending late summers at the beach.

Charlie was always motivated to be the best and he instilled that same drive into his boys. He always carried with him a gold coin that stated “positive mental attitude” for “success”and “Negative Mental attitude” for “Failure.”

While his career was a major success story, his greatest accomplishment was the time he invested in his sons. He coached their baseball teams and taught them life skills; Charlie always had the right tool for any handy man job around the house. Charlie will be greatly missed by family and friends. His heart never recovered after the loss of his late wife Amanda. Surely they are celebrating in Heaven.
