Christine Gubanski

Christine Wilk Gubanski, 78, of Maumelle passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019. She was born October 25, 1941 to Jacob and Anna Chicoski Wilk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Blaise Gubanski; siblings, Paul, David, Margaret (Arthur) Raines, Rosie, Lucille and Regina (Joe) Pruss. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joe; daughters, Natalie Gubanski, Andrea (Kevin) Kintner; son, Frank (Michelle) Gubanski; grandson Mason Wade Hoover, sister-in-law, Hattie Wilk (David) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Christine’s mother passed away when she was sixteen. She took care of her father, who died four years later, while her older siblings worked to support the family. At the urging of her pastor, Christine took a correspondence course in Floral Arranging, which she used and perfected throughout her life, that she began with her sister Lucille at the age of nineteen, to decorate her parish church, Immaculate Heart of Mary (Marche) and continued until May of this year. She was a self-taught seamstress, sewing or altering many Bride and Bridesmaid dresses, men shirts and trousers.

She made her own patterns for doll clothes, won many ribbons for her bride doll dresses, sponsored by Twin City Bank, Grand Prairie Arts and Crafts in Stuttgart other shows, that her siblings, Regina and Rosie participated in.  For several years, she was commissioned by the Southwestern Bell Company employees to sew dresses for needy children to the Salvation Army, working late to meet the deadline, besides caring for her family.

In addition to providing care for her son, she also attended the needs of her unmarried siblings, Paul, Rosie and Lucille until their passing.

Christine was a most generous person who could not refuse any favor asked of her. She befriended many individuals in her lifetime. She was especially mindful of farm vendors along the roadways, since her family were farmers and had to struggle to survive.

The family would like to thank Drs. Diane Wilder, Jerri Fant, Christopher  Ross and all the CARTI staff for their excellent care of her, also Dr. Gary Barton, Dr. Kenneth Sauer and all the compassionate staff with the Baptist Health System Springhill for their care of her and concern for her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gift’s can be made to CARTI, Baptist Health Hospice, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church or one’s favorite charity.
