Darin Swinney

Darin Dale Swinney, 60, devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather, beloved son, treasured brother, and American patriot was called into the arms of His Savior February 16, 2021. Darin was born on January 23, 1961 in Chula Vista, California and enjoyed many adventures during his childhood.  After graduation from Tarkington High School in 1979, he followed his dream and entered the U.S. Navy, where he served his country for 22 years.  While climbing to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer, he married the true love of his life, Carole.  Together they were blessed with three children, Leslie, Brandon, and Katy.  In 2003, Darin retired from military service and accepted a job with Varian Medical Systems as a radiation service technician before permanently retiring in 2011.

As both a child and an adult, Darin truly loved the outdoors! He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life, and became a talented wildlife photographer in his later years.  His “snapshots” of God’s given beauty brought joy to all who viewed his work.  Darin was the ultimate family man, friend, and citizen. He was loving and loyal, and even after his illness was diagnosed, he demonstrated extraordinary energy, optimism, and faith on a daily basis.

Darin was preceded in death by his father, Coy Wayne Swinney and his brother, David Dewayne Swinney.  He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carole Swinney; daughter, Leslie Tanner and husband Ryan Tanner; son, Brandon Swinney; daughter, Katy Wilson and husband Derek Wilson; grandchildren: Leah, Arianah, Maddie, and Cameron; mother, Shirley Swinney; sister, Lori Aten and brother-in-law John Aten.

Viewing will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 22 at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, 517 Clay St, Arkadelphia, AR 71923, with services to follow at 2:00 PM.
