Dorothy Ross

Dorothy Rae Ragsdill Ross, 71, passed away peacefully at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock on May 23, 2021. A visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, July 9, at 10:00am at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will take place that day at 3:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arkadelphia.

Dorothy was born September 12, 1949, in Little Rock.  She was the daughter of Roy and Kathryn Ragsdill.  She had two brothers, Roy Russell Ragsdill, Jr of Monroe, LA and Tommy Ragsdill, deceased.

She graduated from Hall High School, in Little Rock, and went on to attend Henderson State University, where she met the love of her life, Charles Ross, to whom she was married for 51 years.

Dorothy loved being a mother to her three children. She was committed to helping improve the educational experience for her own children and others. She also had a passion for teaching childbirth classes to expectant moms for over 40 years.  In addition to teaching class, she fielded frequent “Is it time for me to go to the hospital now?!” calls and assisted in many births.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Clint (Kristi); daughter, Allison (Ben); son, Philip; and six grandchildren, Claire, Mary Kate & Charlie Ross, and Sloan, Drew & Blake Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Home Care’s partner, Tribute of Life Foundation: Tribute of Life Foundation or Humane Society of Clark County.
