Doyle Baker

Doyle L. Baker passed away surrounded by his children on November 25, 2021, in the early morning hours in Little Rock, Arkansas under the care of Hospice Home Care.  Doyle was 86 and was a long time resident of Hot Springs, AR.

He was born August 26, 1935 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Doni and Myrtle Baker.

Doyle was a long time employee with Sears until his retirement.  After his retirement he continued to work doing what he liked, which was working on appliances.  He could fix just about any appliance.  He also enjoyed working in the yard and cooking.  He enjoyed listening to old country music such as Johnny Cash, one of his favorites, as well as watching the old country shows, such as Gun Smoke and Bonanza.

His daughters Judy and Karen (baby girl) spend the last months enjoying talking about memories of his life and their childhood.  Doyle leaves a great legacy behind.  He was a wonderful father, husband and friend and will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

He is a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Doyle is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Baker, his parents Doni and Myrtle Baker, as well as by two siblings.

He leaves behind his daughters Judy Shoemaker, her husband Charles of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Karen Austin (baby girl), her husband Steve of Springfield, Missouri.  He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Chris Shipe, Justin Shipe, Jessica Glenn-DeGennaro, Kaylee Creed, James Shoemaker, Karrie Franklin, Alex Austin, Steven Austin, Jr. and Lindsey Polston; and many great-grandchildren; two sisters Nola Kellar and Jean Baker, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and his current wife, Barbara Baker of Hot Springs, Arkansas; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many friends.

His daughters would like to extend a special thank you to Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock, third floor, to all the nurses, CNAs, doctors and Case Management for the wonderful care and support that was given during his time there.  Also, a special thank you to the Encore at West Little Rock Nursing Home in Little Rock staff and Hospice Home Care for the care and support that our father received while under their care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Encore at West Little Rock Nursing Home, 12111 Hinson Road in Little Rock, Arkansas 72212 or to Hospice Home Care, 2200 S. Bowman Rd., Little Rock, Arkansas 72211.
