E. R. "Ray" Arledge

E.R. "Ray" Arledge, 93 of Little Rock, entered Heaven on July 18, 2020 surrounded by family at his home at 3:25 p.m.

Born October 11, 1926 to Arlene Graham Arledge and Edmund Ray Arledge in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, he was the younger brother to Evon.

Ray played high school football for the Pine Bluff Zebra's and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1944. The same year he enlisted in the United States Navy. He graduated from Camp Peary in Virginia; Company 937 A-4 in October 1944. Ray went on to serve as an Aviation Electricians Mate Second Class until 1946 during World War II.

After the Navy, he attended The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and worked at Jim Benton's Bowling Alley! Ray met Glenda, his wife of over sixty years at Bauman's Men's Store in Little Rock. They married in 1956 and created a beautiful life with their daughter Petitia in Little Rock. Ray began his engineering career in 1963 and became a professional engineer in 1968. He worked at Bruce R. Anderson Architects, Pettit & Pettit Consulting Engineers, Inc., and eventually retiring from Tinsley-Mullen Engineers, Inc.

Ray was a former president of the Arkansas chapter of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers.) A scholarship has been formed in his honor. Donations should be mailed to, ATTN: Jake Skinner PO BOX 180 Little Rock, Arkansas 72203.

Ray is survived by his daughter Petitia Arledge Califano, and husband Allan Califano of Salado, Texas and his sister Evon Arledge Collins of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren Joshua Allen Dunn, Emily Rene Dunn (1), Anna Marie Reynolds, Amie Dunn Castillo (2), Jocelyn Christeen Dunn (3), and Todd Jeffery Dunn (4); Great-Grandchildren Alixandria Rene Horsley (1) Alyssa Christeen Wilson (2), Hailey Lynette Wilson (2), Dustin Taylor Wilson (2), Cain Dunn (3), Chanse Dunn (3), Isabella Dunn (4). He is preceded in death by his wife Glenda Smith Arledge, his parents Edmund Ray Arledge and Arlene Graham Arledge, children Glenn Allen and Michelle Rene Arledge.  He is also survived by family, friends and caregivers.

Graveside services to be determined at a later date with United States Navy Honors, at Forrest Hills Memorial Park.
