Frank Leeder

Frank Vincent Leeder, 99, one of the last members of this nation's Greatest Generation, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. He was born November 22, 1915 to Bessie and Frank A. Leeder in Minneapolis, MN. He lived in Little Rock most of his life and graduated Little Rock High School in 1932.

During his 28 year Army career, he served in World War II, the Korean War, and the War in Vietnam, retiring in 1973 with a final rank of Command Sergeant Major. His awards include the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Korean Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal among others. During World War II, he served with the Arkansas National Guard in Dutch Harbor Alaska as a member of Battery A, 206 Coast Artillery, during the Japanese attacks on the Aleutian Islands. Recalled to active duty in 1950, he served in Korea, post-war Europe, Okinawa, and Vietnam. Upon retirement, he took up a number of hobbies including photography and SCUBA diving where he became a PADI certified SCUBA diver at the age of 73.

He is survived by his son, Jim Leeder (Cindy) of Tacoma, WA; stepson Pat Studer (Rosemary) of Little Rock; granddaughters, Jessica Leeder, Kelley Duncan (Jim), Lindsay Leeder (Mike Kocharhook), all of Tacoma, WA, and Angie Alexander (Bobby) of Little Rock; a grandson, Patrick Studer (Erika), also of Little Rock, and 8 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church or Presbyterian Village (Christmas Fund).
